A collaborative approach to growth

Recognising the value of a concerted approach, we initiated the South programme. It’s designed to help all 15 South Island regional tourism organisations work collaboratively in tourist markets to increase international arrivals and encourage people to stay longer in the South Island. 

We’ve launched a number of initiatives through the South programme, including:

  • A world-first agreement with Alipay to help Kiwi businesses offer the app to the record number of Chinese visitors to New Zealand.
  • Launching a South Island Travel Store on Fliggy, a leading Chinese travel service platform.
  • New Horizons to mentor South Island tourism operators to help them attract and do business with Chinese visitors.
