No, you are not required to wear a face mask in the airport terminal, but you may choose to do so.

Face masks are no longer mandatory on board domestic flights in New Zealand. However some international carriers still require masks to be worn. Please check with your airline before travelling.

Do I need to complete a travel declaration before I enter New Zealand?
From Thursday 20 October 2022, you no longer need to complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration to enter New Zealand.

No, you are not required to wear a face mask in the airport terminal, but you may choose to do so.

What can I expect on arrival at Christchurch Airport?
Aelia Duty Free, including click and collect, will be open for all arriving international flights. You will then be directed to Customs, bag claim and Biosecurity. The border process operates in line with Government requirements. For further information, please visit our When you arrive page.

Will eGates be operating?
Border Security manual checks are currently in place to review passenger documentation. eGates are operating for accepted countries.

What if I have something to declare?
New Zealand’s biosecurity checks at the border will include all your baggage being X-rayed. You’ll need to declare or dispose of any goods that could carry pests or diseases. If in doubt, please declare it!
Biosecurity detection dogs also operate in our International Arrivals area.
